Indian
National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), an autonomous
organization under Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India is
mandated to provide the best possible ocean information and advisory services
to the society, industry, government agencies and the scientific community
through sustained ocean observations and constant improvements through
systematic and focused research. Some of the major activities of the
organization are (1) early warning services for the coastal population on
tsunamis, storm surges, high waves, etc, (2) Potential Fishing Zone (PFZ)
advisories to fisher folk, (3) Ocean State Forecasts, (4) Ocean Observing
Systems in the Indian Ocean, (5) Ocean Modeling, (6) Ocean Data services, etc.

related to Oceanographic data sets, Big Data and Data Analytics, Database
Management, applications of AI/ML related to Oceanographic data sets,
Open-source software for working with large datasets. Desirable
Qualification: PhD in Computer Science or
Information Technology or Data Science or similar fields. Experience
in programming (Matlab, Python, etc.), data analysis software (e.g., FERRET
etc.,) and data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI, FERRET etc). Experience
in handling Database Management Software like Oracle, DB2, MySQL and

Responsibilities: The selected candidate is
expected to be engaged in data management activities, employing AI/ML and
data science applications using heterogeneous data, visual analytics, R &

recognized university / institute with at least a first class (60% of marks)
in the qualifying degree. Desirable: Ph.D.
in Marine Sciences / Physical Oceanography/ Biological oceanography/ Fishery
Sciences or similar fields.Proven record of experience in any of the fields
such as Remote Sensing and GIS for Fisheries Management, Fish Stock
Assessment, fishery modeling (habitat suitability models, ecosystem models,
etc.), fishery capture technologies, R&D in marine fisheries, satellite
oceanography, primary productivity modeling, etc.Experience in scientific
programing languages (Fortran, Python & C.) and data analysis software
like FERRET, MATLAB, GRAD, GMT etc.Familiarity with usage of field and lab
equipment and experience in cruise participation onboard boats/ships. Job

Period of deputation: Period of deputation including
period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this
appointment in the same or some other organization or Department of the Central
Government, University, Research Institutions, Public Sector Undertaking,
Semi-Government or Autonomous Organizations shall not exceed five years or
attaining the age of superannuation (60 years) whichever is earlier.
Terms of Deputation: The terms of deputation will be
regulated under the provisions in Department of Personnel and Training OM No.
6/8/2009- Estt.(Pay-II) dated 17/6/2010 as amended from time to time.
Mode of Selection: The selection of all the posts of
this advertisement shall be on the basis of performance of the screened in
candidates in the Interview and based on the Selection Committee’s
recommendations.
Place of Posting: Initial posting will be at INCOIS,
Hyderabad. However, he/she may be required to work anywhere in India.
Age relaxation: No age relaxation would be
available for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWD candidates applying for unreserved
post/vacancy. Age Relaxation is permissible up to five years for persons
serving on regular basis (minimum three years continuous service) in Central
Government / Regular employees of INCOIS. For Ex-Serviceman the age relaxation
shall be as per Government of India guidelines.

- Applicants of deputation posts i.e.
Post code 05 & 06 have to forward the Hard
copy of print out of online application along
with copies of certificates in support of educational qualifications, date
of birth, experience, no objection certificate, passport size photograph,
etc should be sent through “Proper Channel” along with attested copies of
full ACR/APARs for the last five years and Vigilance Clearance Certificate
to the Director, Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services,
Ocean Valley, Pragathi Nagar (B.O), Nizampet (S.O.), Hyderabad – 500090,
Telangana, INDIA. Such hard copies of applications received through proper
channel and complete in all aspects will only be considered for screening
purpose. The screened in candidates will be called for
interview and the final selection will be based on the candidate’s
performance before the Selection Committee and based on recommendations of
Selection Committee and evaluation of APARs for last 5 years.
- INCOIS will have full discretion to
fix separate minimum criteria for shortlisting and criteria for interview
for each category of candidates.
- The prescribed essential
qualifications are minimum requirements and the mere possession of the
same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. If the number
of applications, received in response to advertisement, are large, it will
not be convenient or possible to call all candidates for interview.
Accordingly, centre may restrict the number of candidates to be called for
interview to a reasonable limit of desirable qualification and / or on the
record of academic performance and / or relevant experience for the post
prescribed in the advertisement as per the specific requirement of the
Centre and /or any other benchmark decided by a committee constituted to
screen the applications. The final selection of the candidate will be
based on the candidate’s performance in the Interview and based on the
selection committee’s recommendations. No correspondence will be
entertained with candidates who are not called for Interview /not selected

completion of essential academic qualification(s). In addition (a) in case
a candidate has obtained the mentioned degree while in service only his
/her service period will be counted towards experience and he/she will not
get any additional weight age in experience for acquiring Doctorate
towards total period of experience. (b) A completed Doctorate degree will
count as 3 years’ experience.

summarily rejected.
- No TA / DA will be paid by INCOIS
for attending Interview. INCOIS will not be responsible for any

- Any discrepancies found in the
