Job Description
(Post-Doctoral Associate or Project Associate):
The project is
now looking for filling in a position (Post-Doctoral Associate or Project
Associate) for 6 months to work in the above research project.
The grade of appointment will be based on the qualification of the suitable
candidate.
National
Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) was conceived and founded in 1988 by the
late Mr. J. R. D. Tata, who sought to create an institution to conduct advanced
multidisciplinary research. Housed in a picturesque green campus in Bangalore
the Institute serves as a forum to bring together individuals from diverse
intellectual backgrounds, in the natural and life sciences, humanities, social
sciences, and conflict and security studies. The philosophy underlying NIAS is

The
NIAS has been recognized as an “Institute of Exceptional Repute” by the NITI
Aayog in January 2019. The Institute is also recognized by several Universities.
The Energy, Environment, and Climate Change Program (EECP) at NIAS is currently
implementing a research project awarded by the Indian Rare Earth Limited
(IREL), a Govt. of India Undertaking, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE); to
develop a comprehensive Rare Earth Policy Framework for the Government of India
to act on.
Post-Doctoral
Associate (PDA):
Qualification and Eligibility:
PhD degree in
geoinformatics, data science or engineering with strong mathematical foundation,
from a reputed Institution/University with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA of
7.0 (10-point scale) or CGPA of 3.5 (5-point scale). Candidates with sound
knowledge of Machine Learning Models, Artificial Intelligence (AI) modules for
diverse applications and Python coding skills will be given preference. Good
writing skills would prove to be an added advantage for the candidates during
the selection. The candidates must have at least 2 journal papers in the Scopus
Indexed reputed journals.
Emolument: Rs. 47000 per month + 24% HRA
(as per the current norms)
Project
Associate (PA)-I:
Qualification and Eligibility:
Master’s
degree in geoinformatics, data science or computer science with strong
mathematical
foundation, from a reputed Institution/University with a minimum of 60% marks
or CGPA of 7.0
(10-point scale) or CGPA of 3.5 (5-point scale). Knowledge
of Machine Learning Models and Python coding skills is needed. Proficiency in using MS Excel is
desirable. Good writing skills would prove to be an added advantage for the
candidates. The candidates preferably should have at least 1 journal paper in a Scopus Indexed reputed
journal (the publication is not mandatory).
Candidate with more than 2 years of
research experience will be offered a higher grade of pay
(Project Associate-II).
Emoluments:
Project Associate -II Scale: Rs. 28,000 per month + 24% HRA (as per the current
norms)
Project Associate-I Scale: Rs. 25,000 per month + 24% HRA (as per the current
norms)
The selected candidate will have to work from NIAS, Bengaluru.
