Recruitment of two paid project interns, at IISER
Kolkata, for biodiversity research in Madhya Pradesh
We require two project interns immediately for (1) Field
Assistance and (2) Data Curation for the biodiversity research to be carried
out in Madhya Pradesh.
The positions will be based at IISER Kolkata. The
position on Field
Assistance will require extensive time on field
work in Madhya Pradesh. The position on Data
Curation will be solely based at IISER Kolkata. This
project on ‘Monitoring
Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Enhancement under the Green
India Mission’ is supervised by Dr. Robert John Chandran. The
project is funded by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Essential
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Zoology/Botany/Wildlife
Science/Life Sciences as pertinent to the respective positions. Ability for
field taxonomy of mammals is required for the Project Intern (Field
Assistance) position. Also, for this position, some ecological
research experience in the forests of Madhya Pradesh is mandatory. Proficiency
in MS Office is essential and basic knowledge of ArcGIS/QGIS or other GIS
software is desirable for the Project Intern (Data Curation) position.
Salary: The
project interns will be paid Rs 15,000 per month
Duration: The
employment pertaining to (1) Project Intern (Field Assistance) will be for 2.5
months, while for (2) Project Intern (Data Curation) will be for 2 months only.
The posts are purely temporary and contractual in

The shortlisted candidates will receive a call
letter mentioning the time and date for the interview via email. The number of
candidates to be called for the interview will be decided based on the
applications received. Mere fulfilment of the eligibility criteria does not
guarantee a call for the interview.
