Job Description (Research Associate I)
Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates
for one Research Associate I (RA-I) position in an ISRORESPOND funded research
project entitled “Retrieval of hydrological parameters and development of
glaciohydrological model in Chandra Basin including satellite and field
observations” at Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Indore. The major
objectives of this project are to retrieve the hydrological parameters from
in-situ measurements, comparison with satellite products, and development of
the glacio-hydrological model for the Chandra Basin, HP.
Eligibility:
Essential Qualification:
PhD degree in: Glaciology, Hydrology, Water Resources,
Remote Sensing, Geosciences, OR
Master’s degree in engineering: Hydrology, Water Resources,
Remote Sensing, Geosciences or equivalent branches, with three years
post-master research experience.
Desirable Qualification:
Candidates having experience in GIS and programming (Python,
MATLAB etc.) are encouraged to apply. RA-I is expected to perform extensive
fieldwork on the glacier (around 1 month every year) therefore should have a
good level of physical fitness and previous experience. Candidate should have a
good track-record of research with at least 3 publications in SCI-indexed
journals.
Stipend:
The amount of RA-I fellowship will be as per ISRO
norms (https://www.isro.gov.in/capacity–building/researchfellowships).
Duration:
Initial appointment will be for six months, which is
extendable up to end of the project (Nov 2023) based on performance.
