CONTRACTUAL ENGAGEMENT OF PROJECT PERSONNEL WALK- IN - INTERVIEW

The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun invites application for walk-in-interview for engaging Project Personnel for an IUCN-KFW funded collaborative project between Wildlife Institute of India and Zoological Society of London entitled Supporting trans-boundary recovery in India and Nepal”. This proposed project aims to contribute towards a viable tiger meta-population in the Terai Arc Landscape (TAL). It is part of the Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme (ITHCP) funded by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the German Development Bank, KfW. The area to be covered by the project extends to over 1500 km2, in Nandhaur Landscape and the main project components include management effectiveness, law enforcement, habitat management, management of human-wildlife conflict (HWC) and livelihood development.

The positions are purely on contract basis for a period of one year. The EQ and other details are provided below:

Essential Qualification (EQ)

Master’s Degree in Remote Sensing & GIS/ Geo informatics/ Wildlife Sciences/ Environmental Sciences/ Biological Sciences or related subjects.

And

8 years’ experience in Research and development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and Services.

 

OR

 

Doctoral Degree in Science from a recognized university or equivalent

And

4 years of experience in Research and development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and Services.


 

 

 

Desirable Qualification (DQ)

Have PG Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS/ Geoinformatics.

Prior experience of working in developmental projects and conservation programs especially in landscapes will be an added advantage.

Work description & Key responsibilities

The GIS specialist will be responsible for all geo-spatial analyses and assessments that may be required at the level of corridor or landscape level assessment; database creation, analysis and report writing, maintenance of several thematic layers related to tiger habitat, population, land use, and connectivity. The selected candidate will implement to geospatially map and analyse the patterns of Human-wildlife conflicts in Nandhaur landscape.

Age

Not exceeding 40 years as on the date of interview. Upper age limit in case of applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories may be relaxed as per the rules

Emoluments

49,000/- +HRA


General Terms & Conditions Mode of Selection and other conditions:

1.    The selection of the candidates will be in accordance with the performance in the interview and in order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee. All original documents should be produced at the time of interview. The decision of the Institute’s Committee in all matters relating to eligibility, work experience, acceptance or rejection of application will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual.

 

2.    The candidates are required to submit their completed application forms in PDF format, with accompanying attachments, by email (with subject line: “Application for the post of                    (post name) _                                            (Project name)” to registrarpr@wii.gov.in not later than 1700 hrs on                                               .                                  should be sent to The Registrar, Wildlife Institute of India, Chandrabani, Dehradun 248001, Uttarakhand by post not later than 1700 hrs on 26.08.2022.

 

3.    Application forms needs to be typed according to the prescribed format and must be accompanied by self-attested: (a) Scanned copies of educational qualifications, and (b) Scanned copies of experience letter/ certificate, failing which applications will not be considered.

 

4.    The applications received will be rejected by the Institute, if (i) receive after the deadline, (ii) not in prescribed application format, (iii) self attested documents of qualification, date of birth & experience not attached or (iii) received without said subject line in e-mail/ post.

 

5.    Mere fulfilment of the minimum advertised qualifications and experience requirement DOES NOT automatically entitle an applicant to be called for interview.

 

6.    The shortlisting of candidates will be based on a combination of Essential and Desirable Qualifications mentioned in the advertisement. The shortlisted candidates will be notified (through email and website notification) for online/personal interview.

 

7.    At the time of verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be considered.

 

8.    The positions advertised are purely temporary/ contractual for the project period only and will stand abolished after completion of the project.

 

9.    The tenure in the project will be governed by the Institute’s rules and regulations

 

10.   Relaxation in Age will be given as per Govt. of India norms

 

11.   After announcement of the results, the candidate should join the project immediately.


 

12.  The headquarters for the above posts would be the various field sites in remote areas or at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun. The selected candidate would be liable to serve at any field location or task decided by the Institute as per functional needs.

 

13.  The initial offer of appointment will be for one year which would be extended depending upon annual performance assessment, functional needs of the project, and availability of project funds and up to project tenure.

 

14.  The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason thereof. Registrar Wildlife Institute of India
